    Description

    York Trumpet Grand Rapids 1946 with Under-slung 3rd Slide Ring - Parts or Restore Only  - Bore: .460 - Serial# 135**
Lovely horn that has wear on the 2nd valve, visual inspection of the valve leads me to believe it was dropped. Horn has a great sound, but a lot of blow by on valve 2. 1st and 3rd are good and the 2nd chamber is true. Missing 2nd slide pull nub, components are all in good shape, no plier marks, 3rd slide a little firm. Great parts horn or fixer upper. I will use for parts or will repair in the future when another compatible model is found if not sold.
I am a collector and hobbyist brass instrument repair technician. My main focus is on vintage, less known and less appreciated cornets and trumpets as well as vintage student models and antique cornets. Recently my new interests are working on and collecting flugelhorns, trombones, euphoniums, tenor horns, single and double french horns. I specialize in refurbishing and collecting original condition horns, but on occasion do complete restores.
    THIS INSTRUMENT IS SOLD AS-IS
with no return, please look at all the pic's and ask questions before bidding or purchasing please.
UpYourBrass shop policies are single tolerance, all listed brass wind instruments get the same treatment unless otherwise mentioned in the listing. All of my instruments are serviced, inspected and photographed by me so no back of the house guys telling the front of the house it's ready.
All reconditioned horns from start to finish receive:
3 stage Tesch green clean of horn and all components (Emerald Degreaser, Power Brass Acid, Classic Brass Alkaline - as needed)
Initial inspection to determine viability to become an instrument again or to be put in my parts pile, unworthy horns are not refurbished
Hot water rinsed, and body and slides thoroughly brushed
Upper and Lower valve chambers polished
Threads cleaned on horn body and the top and bottom caps
Small parts hand detailed and/or run through the tumbler
Horn body trued as needed, hand torqued at all solder joints for strength, braces checked and repaired or replaced as needed
Bell tail, taper, flair and leadpipe dents and major dings removed when easily accessible
Valve chamber area knuckle dings removed
Female slide receivers dry scrubbed with firm brush, male slides polished, gap between valve body and threads cleaned
Inside bell flair brushed finished behind the bell seam
Valves hand lapped from top and bottom when accessible, rotary valve chambers are power brushed
Valve chambers and valves checked for proper fit during lapping
Valve cap threads checked for fit, out of round threaded areas are trued and threads are chased
Horn body is then hot water triple rinsed and scrubbed
Slides dry scrubbed with firm brush, polished and checked for proper fit and feel, any fit issues mentioned in listing
Slides hot water rinsed, accessible dents and dings removed
Valves aligned, felts pads, springs and water-key corks replaced as needed
Horn and valves assembled, all interfaces and parts lubed. Al Cass Fast used on ALL valves.
Play tested and checked for valve action, slide fit, leaks, and slotting (
    after regular use,
valves should fit to the lapped chamber and get faster)
Original mouthpieces are usually included, checked for receiver fit, cleaned and polished (most vintage mouthpieces have blemishes)
Horn is then wiped clean and or hand polished
Cases opened, aired out, disinfected, vacuumed, sometimes minor repairs are completed (Note, some old cases will have residual smell)
Horns are photographed on the UpYourBrass Poker Table, disassembled and checked for proper fit again
Horns then stored with my collection and available for local sale as well as Ebay (horns sold locally will be removed)
Ebay sales all go through my bench test and are played one more time before being certified ready to ship to you
Fedex Ground and Home Delivery are UpYourBrass's preferred shipping methods, all horns are fully insured.
"You will most likely not find this amount of work done to horns at your local music shop or on Ebay horns unless they are completely restored"
***Refurbished horns should be cleaned in a warm water bath with mild detergent after at least one month's time and preferably after your first full practice session, don't forget, to never mix oils, many are different and mixing them can lead to dirt buildup and sluggish valves. I highly recommend the use of spitballs regularly to clean any residual debris from your refurbished vintage instrument, remember vintage horns have sometimes been sitting for a very long time, you as an instrument owner should clean your instrument regularly.
