Description
Vintage 1955-1957 G.Leblanc Symphonie Trumpet 7000 series model made in France. This horn has been professionally serviced. This trumpet was my late Father's. He was a professional musician for over 50 years. He purchased this horn in around the mid 1950’s
and played it until he passed away. He loved this trumpet among the many others he owned. This horn was played in numerous professional engagements from Reno/ Las Vegas showrooms and nightclubs to countless gigs all over San Francisco, Sacramento & LA. While going through my Father's personal belongings it was my intent not to sell his horns as the sentimental value is great, but after much thought and consideration, I have come to the conclusion that I do not want his instruments to just sit and not be used. He would want someone to continue to make music with them as he greatly loved doing for so many years. This horn is attached to many memories. My Dad had countless stories of the star entertainers he played for, the musicians he played with as well as the venues he played in.
My hope is that this horn goes to someone who will not only use it, but will cherish it as my father did. This horn is surrounded by good energy. It created music for many years - and was used not only for work but for sheer joy, love and pleasure...and this is what I want more than
anything else to carry on with whoever purchases it.
MARKINGS
Serial number: M 709 (5) ? It is very hard to determine the last number but I believe it is a 5 / There is a B at the beginning of the lead pipe /
There are 95’s under the waterkeys / There is a 7 on the bottom of the first value. I do not see any more numbers other than what I have stated.
CONDITION
Overall in very good condition. There is lacquer loss to some areas and minimal surface scratching – all expected for a horn of this age and with continual use. In addition there are a few very slight minimal dings leading up
form the bell This horn has been professionally disassembled and cleaned. I am sorry not to be more descriptive in technical terms but I am not an expert in brass instruments. If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to obtain the appropriate answer. Additionally, I am at my limitation for photos here. If you would like something specific, let me know and I will accommodate you. I have combined as many as I can.
MOUTHPIECE
There is no mouthpiece for this horn. My father used multiple mouthpieces for his different horns and there wasn’t one in the case. Since
mouthpieces are usually a very personal
preference
, you can use what you prefer.
HARD SHELL CASE
The case is in quite good condition considering how much it was used. Everything is solid and sturdy. The right side snap works properly but does not spring back when opened. However, it locks properly. The left snap works perfectly. There is minor scratching and some slight dings to a few areas. The inside ice blue lining is also in good condition. However, there is saliva staining to some areas and the mouthpiece slot has some velvet loss around the perimeter.
