Selling a beautiful vintage horn that my dad left me when he passed. Out of all the manufacturers, I always go back to Olds.
Their facotry produced so many horns with phenomenal quality over the years.
There is quite a bit of heated debate ovee the years amongst trumpet players about which horn is better: the Olds Mendez or the Olds Recording.
I have played several versions of each model, and I think it comes down to the player.
One thing that the Mendez beats the Recording is in scarcity. There is an over abundance of used Recordings. You don’t see very many Mendez models.
Regarding this particular Mendes, it is a big challenge to find one in such excellent condition.
It is not brand new, but it presents so beautifully.
This Mendez, #428xxx, was made in 1962-3. It was made when Olds was still in Fullerton, for those of you who know why that's important.
It is in excellent condition. Pictures tell the best story.
As you can see from the photos, The lacquer still has a lot of pop to it, and the valve plating still looks new.
The first and third valve trigger are very responsive.
There are no dents or dings though there are some minor wear and missing spots of lacquer. The lacquer is overll intact.
Does not have a case or mouthpiece. We take great pride in properly packaged in these horns for their new home. Take a look at customer feedback to get an idea
