On May 11, 1920 Big Jim Colosimo was gunned down in his own restaurant, Colosimo’s Cafe, thus spawning one of the most powerful crime syndicates in America-The Chicago Outfit. Also launching the crime careers of Johnny Torrio and none other than Al Capone!
His murder remains unsolved to this day but is widely believed to have been committed by hit man, Frankie Yale or maybe even by Al Capone himself.
This Coin, good for .00 in Trade at Colosimo’s, Chicago’s oldest cafe, is a rare piece of history.
The cafe was demolished in the late 1950’s after failure to make it a go after changing ownership with Big Jim’s demise.
