Description
This is a circulated overrun token created by the Patrick Mint for personal use. That is why the names "David T & Patricia A., Bobby, Doug, Alexander, Wendy & Heather" all appear on one side of the token. It's assumed someone (perhaps "Alexander") had this token made who came from Sidney Ohio (says it on the token) and categorized family members into Hominidaes (apes) and Canidaes (dogs). The other side of the token features an eagle facing right. To learn more about these tokens and the Patrick Mint, here is an excerpt from their website:
"
Commencing in 1976 and for the following three years the Patrick Mint was engaged in the production of 20 mm size copper tokens. These approximately nickel size pieces were struck using stock obverse designs of a wide variety while the reverses were personalized to the order to the customer. Many were done with the customer's name, address and phone number, making them business cards.
A large number of tokens were issued by coin dealers. The tokens were ordered by people all over the world although primarily were struck for people and businesses in the U.S. In all, some 1341 different tokens were made not including those made with more than one obverse type.
The tokens are overruns struck between 1976 and 1979 and are not recently made. The dies used to strike these tokens are long gone and no more can be made."
Specs: Bronze, Eagle, 20mm, 1000 issued
