This horn is clean clean clean inside!
Outside the 70 year old lacquer still looks fabulous from a distance and is about 95-97% intact. There’s some small dots pitting in the lacquer and a few scratches on this old horn. I do not see any red rot at all. The lead pipe is incredibly clean. I have gone thru this horn extensively. The only thing that I did not do was replace the cork on the water keys, as they still function and seal. My opinion: It looks like someone took very good cleaning care with this horn, used it for a couple of years, and then it sat in an attic for 60 years !
- The valves are lightning fast with full plating, no pitting scoring or corrosion.  I used a borescope to make sure the valves are in alignment. And they are spot on.

All slides are free, non abrasive cleaned, ultrasonically cleaned and then polished with Flitz polish and lubricated.
- There are a few dings on the horn. The entrance of the main tuning slide to the valve cluster small dent. A tiny ding on the second valve slide on the back side. A tiny dent on the valve tube left side between the 1st and 2nd valve.
- all braces are strong and intact.
- The only detriment on this horn is on the bell crook. There is a dent there and the end is slightly bent inward. See photos. It appears there was some repair attempt at some point to try and straighten it out. The flare end of the bell is decent with a slight bend. The trumpet does stand up on the bell but with a little wobble. It seems to me if someone wants to repair this correctly that the bell would have to be un-soldered, removed, straightened, re-installed.
- this would make an awesome student trumpet or even a back up pro trumpet for the musician that wants a high-quality instrument and wouldn’t have to worry so much about getting banged up so much.
- I am including the hard shell original 1951 Ambassador case, in case the buyer is a collector. It is useable, and the latches do spring and latch, but in my opinion is is seriously lacking internal padding for protection. I guess that was how they made them back then. You get the Olds warranty certificate, mail-in card, QC inspection checklist, and original 3C Olds mouthpiece.  (Ugly with pliers marks but very playable good rim and mirror finish clean bore!) I ultrasonically cleaned the mouthpiece. I am shipping the horn in a second brand new generic trumpet case to better protect this horn. Also, so a student would not have an ugly 'grandpa' trumpet case carrying it to school! I made my own Olds name plate for this generic case.
