    Description

    This somewhat scarce token is a souvenir of the opening of the new building for Peoples Savings and Dime Bank in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  The obverse has the name of the bank and its city along the rim surrounding the words
    SOUVENIR OF THE OPENING OF OUR NEW HOME  1891-1921
    .  The reverse names the bank and its city along the rim, with the words
    LUCKY PENNY POCKET PIECE
    in the center, and, along the lower rim, has the mark of the token manufacturer (Whitehead & Hoag; Newark NJ).  The diameter i
    s approximately 25 mm (nearly 1"), and the composition appears to be brass, with a light gilt surface treatment, some of which remains.
    This token is in very fine condition, with light wear, signs of handling, toning, and soiling.
