Cool little book for loggers and lumbermen( not too many women in that trade in those days)  Published in 1895 in Rochester NY by Mr. Fisher.
Contains tons of useful information, of course the Doyle log scale to tell how much board footage is in a log by diameter. also Size of Nails, Hardness of woods, Shape of an Axe, charcoal etc.   How about the strength of Ice? 4" thick will support men on Horseback. very handy stuff to know in here.
Inscribed on first page," Charles gave this to his Grandfather Slater" Some penciled notations on the inside of the back cover. All the text is very clear but the cover has considerable wear. The binding is tight but the back cover is fully attached by fabric that is not attached to the spine, I think it was originally glued to the strip of fabric on the back.
