    Description

Travel back in time with this wonderful old cornet. Made by H.N. White in Cleveland, Ohio. With a four-digit lion's head serial number of 1,645, it was made very, very early, between 1893 and 1899, closer to '93 than '99.
As engraved on the bell, it's a The King model. It's a Bb/A instrument. I got it from a retired 87-year old music teacher and cornet player. He took excellent care of his instruments, and this is no exception. The tuning slides all move properly and are freshly lubed. The piston finish is good, not great, and freshly lubed. The #2 piston has plyer wear on the valve stem, it looks like, where somebody wrenched it out. Still, it works fine. All the pistons move properly. H.N. White mouthpiece is worn, but functional.
Silver finish. Gold wash on the inner bell. No lyre. Cosmetically, it is in very fine condition. It just looks great. Excellent engraving.
Comes in the original case, which is also in fine condition.
It's a classic and historic American instrument, ready to play.
